What Are Hastelloy Pipes?
Hastelloy pipes are pipes made from Hastelloy, a family of nickel-based alloys built for severe corrosion. Nickel is the base, usually 40% to 70% or more, and molybdenum, chromium, tungsten and iron are added in different mixes to suit different chemicals.
The alloys fall into a few groups:
- C-series (C276, C22, C2000, C4): nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys that resist both oxidising and reducing acids, wet chlorine and chlorides.
- B-series (B2, B3): nickel-molybdenum alloys made for hydrochloric acid, with almost no chromium.
- G-series (G30): nickel-chromium-iron alloys for phosphoric acid and mixed acid streams.
- X: a heat-resistant alloy for furnace and oxidising high-temperature service.
The pipes are made seamless, pierced from solid billet, or welded from plate and strip. After forming, they are solution annealed and quenched fast so the alloy keeps its full corrosion resistance. Pipes are ordered by nominal pipe size (NPS) and schedule.

Hastelloy C276, C22, C2000, B2, B3, G30 and X Pipes Manufacturers and Suppliers in India
We manufacture and supply Hastelloy Pipes in the main grades below. The right grade depends on the chemical, its concentration, the temperature and whether oxidising impurities are present.
- Hastelloy C276 (UNS N10276): resists wet chlorine, hypochlorite, chlorine dioxide and mixed acids. A common pick for flue gas scrubbers and chemical reactors.
- Hastelloy C22 (UNS N06022): handles both oxidising and reducing acids, and resists pitting and crevice corrosion in strong chloride solutions.
- Hastelloy C2000 (UNS N06200): adds copper to the C-series for better resistance in sulphuric and hydrochloric acid mixes.
- Hastelloy C4 (UNS N06455): keeps its corrosion resistance after long exposure to heat and welding.
- Hastelloy B2 (UNS N10665): made for pure hydrochloric acid, but it needs a stream free of ferric and cupric salts.
- Hastelloy B3 (UNS N10675): a more thermally stable version of B2 for hydrochloric acid service.
- Hastelloy G30 (UNS N06030): a high-chromium alloy for phosphoric acid and acid mixes in fertiliser plants.
- Hastelloy X (UNS N06002): a strong, heat-resistant alloy for furnace and combustion parts.
These grades are available in different outside diameters, wall thicknesses, schedules and end finishes according to the required specification.

Hastelloy Pipes Size and Weight Chart
Weight depends on OD, wall thickness and alloy density. Hastelloy C276 has a density of about 8.89 g/cm³, so we use this formula:
OD and wall are in mm. Example: NPS 4 Sch 40S is (114.3 − 6.02) × 6.02 × 0.02793 = 18.21 kg/m. Multiply by length for total weight. For other grades, swap in the factor from the second table below.

Available Sizes, Dimensions and Schedules
Hastelloy Pipes follow ASME B36.19M for Sch 5S, 10S, 40S and 80S, and ASME B36.10M for Sch 160. A schedule is a wall-thickness code, so for the same OD a higher number means a thicker wall. Other sizes and walls can be quoted on request. Confirm the wall against the design code and your corrosion allowance.

Hastelloy Pipes FAQs
Common questions about Hastelloy pipe grades, acid service, welding, dimensions, and supply.
Which Hastelloy grade should I choose?
Choose C276 for mixed acids, wet chlorine and scrubbers, and C22 where oxidising and reducing conditions swing or chloride is strong. Choose B2 or B3 for pure hydrochloric acid, G30 for phosphoric acid, and C2000 for sulphuric acid mixes.
How do I choose between C276 and C22?
C276 is the proven all-round grade with a long service record. C22 has more chromium, so it resists oxidising acids and localised corrosion better. Check your fluid, chloride level and temperature against the supplier's corrosion data.
Why must B2 and B3 avoid oxidising salts?
B-series alloys have almost no chromium, so ferric or cupric salts and dissolved oxygen can attack them quickly. Use them only in pure reducing acid, mainly hydrochloric. Pick C276 or C22 if oxidisers may be present.
Does Hastelloy resist chloride stress corrosion cracking?
Yes. The high nickel content gives it excellent resistance to chloride stress cracking and to pitting and crevice corrosion in strong chloride solutions.
How should I weld Hastelloy pipes?
Use TIG welding with a matching filler such as ERNiCrMo-4 for C276, ERNiCrMo-10 for C22 and ERNiMo-7 for B2, a clean joint and low heat input. Solution annealed pipe normally needs no post-weld heat treatment, and B2 should avoid long exposure to heat.
What tolerances apply to OD and wall?
ASTM B829 sets them for seamless pipe and ASTM B775 for welded pipe. The limits depend on pipe size.
What sizes and schedules can I order?
The tables above cover NPS 1/2 to 12 in Sch 10S, 40S, 80S and 160. Other sizes and walls can be quoted on request, and popular sizes sit in ready stock, subject to availability.
How do I calculate the weight of an order?
Use Weight (kg/m) = (OD − Wall) × Wall × factor, with OD and wall in mm and the factor from the grade table above. Multiply by length and quantity. Real weight varies slightly with wall tolerance.
What affects the price of Hastelloy Pipes?
Grade is the main factor, because nickel and molybdenum prices move the cost. Size, wall, seamless or welded form, testing, quantity, inspection and freight also count.
Which certificates and tests come with the pipes?
Each order carries an EN 10204 3.1 certificate showing chemistry and mechanical results. A 3.2 certificate and third-party inspection are available on request.
