What Are Stainless Steel Seamless Pipes?
A stainless steel seamless pipe is a hollow pipe with no weld seam, made from steel that holds at least 10.5% chromium. The chromium reacts with oxygen and forms a thin, invisible oxide film on the surface. That film blocks rust, and it heals itself when scratched, so the pipe keeps its protection for decades. Nickel, molybdenum, and nitrogen added to the steel make the film tougher against chlorides, acids, and heat.
The mill starts with a solid round billet. It heats the billet, then pierces or extrudes it into a hollow shell. Some pipes stay hot finished, and others go through cold drawing or cold pilgering to reach a tighter size and a smoother surface. Next comes the step that matters most for stainless steel: solution annealing. The pipe is heated to 1,040°C or higher and cooled quickly, which dissolves harmful carbides and restores full corrosion resistance. Pickling in acid then removes scale, and passivation leaves a clean, uniform chromium oxide surface.
Because nothing is welded, a seamless pipe has no weld zone and no heat-affected area, so the wall behaves the same all around. That makes stainless steel seamless pipes the safe choice for high pressure, high temperature, and critical corrosion duty.

304 Seamless Pipes, 316L Seamless Pipes, 321 and 347 Seamless Pipes, 904L Seamless Pipes, Duplex Seamless Pipes, Stainless Steel Seamless Pipes Manufacturers and Suppliers in India
We are one of the stainless steel seamless pipes manufacturers in India that process plants, shipyards, and EPC teams call when the grade must be exactly right. Our yard near Mumbai holds common grades and schedules in ready stock, and we draw or roll other sizes to order.
For general process lines, our 304 and 304L seamless pipes carry water, food, and mild chemicals. For chlorides, acids, and marine air, our 316 and 316L seamless pipes give the extra molybdenum. When the line runs hot, our 321, 347, and H-grade pipes hold their strength. For hot acids and seawater, our 904L and SMO 254 pipes take over, and for high-pressure offshore and desalination lines, our duplex and super duplex pipes bring strength and chloride resistance.
As a stainless steel seamless pipes supplier, we treat the pipe, the cleaning, and the paperwork as one product. We cut to length, bevel the ends, pickle and passivate, pack with plastic caps, and ship with full material traceability. Buyers comparing stainless steel seamless pipes suppliers can send us the grade, NPS, schedule, quantity, and port. We will reply with a price, a lead time, and the certificate type.

What Is the Difference Between Stainless Steel Seamless Pipes and Stainless Steel Welded Pipes?
The difference is the seam and the price. Seamless pipes start as solid billets and carry no weld. Welded pipes start as flat strip or plate that the mill rolls and welds, so they carry one seam. A well-made, annealed, tested weld performs well, and welded pipe costs less. But the weld zone is where corrosion, fatigue, and design factors concentrate, so many specifications ask for seamless pipe on high pressure, high temperature, and critical corrosion lines. Design codes also give welded pipe a joint factor, usually 0.85 unless the weld is fully examined, so a welded pipe of the same wall can carry less pressure.
| Factor | Seamless Pipes | Welded Pipes |
|---|---|---|
| Starting Material | Solid round billet | Flat strip or plate |
| Seam | None | One longitudinal weld |
| Wall Behaviour | Same all around | Weld zone differs slightly |
| ASME B31.3 Quality Factor | 1.00 | 0.85 (up to 1.00 with full examination) |
| Typical Size Range | 1/8" to 24" NPS | 1/8" to 48" NPS and larger |
| Pressure and Temperature | High | Low to high within the joint factor |
| Corrosion Risk at Weld | None | Needs good weld practice and annealing |
| Price | Higher | Lower |
| Lead Time | Longer | Shorter |
| Choose It When | The line is critical, hot, or under high pressure | The line is large, moderate in duty, or cost-led |

Common Materials
Stainless steel pipe grades belong to different families, and each family offers properties suited to specific industrial requirements. Stainless steel pipe suppliers provide these grades for applications involving corrosion, heat, pressure, and demanding operating conditions.
Austenitic grades, mainly the 300 series, contain chromium and nickel. Grade 304 suits water, food processing, and mild chemical applications, while Grade 316 contains molybdenum for improved resistance to chlorides and acids. Low-carbon grades 304L and 316L help maintain corrosion resistance after welding, while 304H and 316H offer higher-temperature strength. Stabilized grades 321 and 347 use titanium or niobium to improve stability at temperatures of roughly 425°C to 850°C.
Super austenitic grades such as 904L (UNS N08904) and SMO 254 (UNS S31254) contain higher levels of nickel and molybdenum for demanding acid and seawater environments. Duplex 2205 (UNS S32205) and super duplex 2507 (UNS S32750) combine high strength with strong resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking. Suppliers also offer these grades in different sizes and specifications to meet project requirements. Engineers use PREN to compare pitting resistance: PREN = %Cr + 3.3 × %Mo + 16 × %N. Higher PREN values generally indicate better pitting resistance in chloride environments.
Available Sizes, Dimensions and Schedules
We supply stainless steel seamless pipes from 1/8" to 24" NPS in schedules 5S, 10S, 40S, 80S, 160, and XXS. A schedule is a code for wall thickness, so the same schedule gives a different wall in mm at each pipe size, while the outside diameter stays fixed for each NPS. A thicker schedule therefore shrinks the bore and raises the pressure the pipe can carry. Pipes above 12" NPS and walls beyond 80S come on request.
Standard lengths are single random (16–22 ft) and double random (36–40 ft). We also cut 6 m or any custom length. As a stainless steel seamless pipes supplier in India, we hold common grades and schedules in stock, subject to availability.
| Product | Size Range | Schedules | Lengths | Condition |

Stainless Steel Seamless Pipes FAQs
Common questions about stainless steel seamless pipe grades, schedules, finishes, testing, and supply.
Which stainless steel seamless pipe grade should I choose for chloride service?
Grade 316L suits mild chloride exposure. For seawater, strong brine, or aggressive chloride service, choose duplex 2205, super duplex 2507, or SMO 254 according to the fluid chemistry, temperature, pressure, and project specification.
What is the difference between 304, 304L, and 304H seamless pipe?
304 is the standard grade for general corrosion resistance. 304L has lower carbon for improved corrosion resistance after welding. 304H has controlled higher carbon for improved strength at elevated temperature.
What is the difference between 316L and 316Ti pipe?
316L uses low carbon to reduce the risk of sensitisation after welding. 316Ti uses titanium stabilisation for high-temperature service where resistance to sensitisation is required.
When should I choose seamless pipe instead of welded stainless steel pipe?
Choose seamless pipe for high pressure, high temperature, critical corrosion service, or where the design specification requires no longitudinal weld. Welded pipe is often suitable for moderate-duty, larger-size, or cost-led applications.
What does solution annealed and pickled mean?
Solution annealing heats stainless steel to dissolve harmful precipitates and then cools it rapidly to restore corrosion resistance. Pickling removes heat tint and scale from the surface after heat treatment.
Can stainless steel seamless pipes be used for sour service?
