What Are Boiler Tubes?
Boiler tubes are steel tubes that carry water, steam, or hot gas inside a boiler. Heat passes through the tube wall, so water turns to steam or steam gets hotter. The tube must resist high pressure, high temperature, scale, and corrosion at the same time, which is why boiler tubes follow stricter rules than ordinary tubes.
Mills make boiler tubes two ways. Seamless boiler tubes start as solid billets that the mill pierces and draws, so no weld seam exists. ERW boiler tubes start as strip that the mill rolls and welds with high-frequency current, then heat treats and tests. Both types must pass hydrostatic, flattening, and flaring tests, and the standard sets the chemistry, strength, and size limits for each grade.

Common Materials
Carbon steel is widely used for boiler tubes because it offers good strength and cost efficiency in lower-temperature sections. ASTM A192, A210, and A178 grades are commonly used for economisers, water walls, and boiler banks.
For higher-temperature service, alloy steel grades such as ASTM A213 T11, T12, T22, T91, and T92 provide better resistance to creep and oxidation. Stainless steel grades including ASTM A213 TP304H, TP316H, TP321H, and TP347H are used where higher steam temperatures and corrosion resistance are required.
As a boiler tubes supplier, we provide these materials in different grades and specifications according to the required boiler design and applicable standards. Material selection depends on the tube metal temperature, steam pressure, operating conditions, and boiler code.
Boiler Tubes Material and Grades
Each grade below comes with a mill test certificate that lists its chemistry, UNS number, and standard. If your project needs a grade that is not on this list, we can supply it against a custom specification.

What Is the Difference Between Seamless and ERW Boiler Tubes?
The main difference is the seam. Seamless boiler tubes have none, and ERW boiler tubes carry one heat-treated weld. Seamless tubes handle the highest pressures and temperatures, so superheaters, reheaters, and high-pressure water walls use them. ERW tubes cost less, hold a very even wall, and serve economisers, boiler banks, fire tubes, and air heaters at lower pressure.
Choose seamless when metal temperature and steam pressure run high. Choose ERW when the duty is moderate and cost matters. Also remember that boiler codes apply a weld joint factor to welded tubes, so the allowed pressure can be lower than for the same seamless tube.
| Point | Seamless Boiler Tubes | ERW Boiler Tubes |
|---|---|---|
| Made From | Solid round billet | Steel strip |
| Seam | None | One welded seam, heat-treated |
| Wall Thickness | Can vary more | Very even |
| Pressure and Heat | High | Low to medium |

| Size Range | 3/4" to 6" OD | 3/4" to 4" OD |
| Price | Higher | Lower |
| Best For | Superheaters, reheaters, high-pressure water walls | Economisers, boiler banks, fire tubes, air heaters |

Available Sizes, Dimensions and Tolerances
We supply boiler tubes from 3/4" to 6" OD, in walls from 2.0 mm to 10 mm. Boiler tubes do not use schedule numbers. You order them by outside diameter and wall thickness, and the standard sets how far each can vary. For boiler tubes, ask whether the tolerance applies to the minimum wall or the average wall, because the two are not the same and boiler makers design to the minimum wall.
Standard lengths are 6 m, 9 m, and 12 m, plus random lengths and exact cut lengths. As a boiler tubes supplier in India, we hold ready stock of popular sizes, subject to availability, and we bend, swage, and end-form tubes on request.
| Product | Available Sizes | Wall Thickness | Standard Lengths |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carbon Steel Seamless Boiler Tubes | 3/4" to 6" OD | 2.0 mm to 10 mm | 6 m / 9 m / 12 m / exact cut |
| ERW Boiler Tubes | 3/4" to 4" OD | 2.0 mm to 6.3 mm | 6 m / 9 m / 12 m / exact cut |
| Alloy Steel Boiler Tubes | 3/4" to 6" OD | 2.0 mm to 10 mm | 6 m / 9 m / 12 m / exact cut |
| Stainless Steel Boiler Tubes | 3/4" to 6" OD | 2.0 mm to 10 mm | 6 m / 9 m / 12 m / exact cut |

Boiler Tubes FAQs
Common questions about boiler tube grades, sizes, standards, testing, and supply.
What is the difference between boiler tubes and normal tubes?
Boiler tubes follow stricter standards for chemistry, strength at temperature, testing, and dimensions, because a failure inside a boiler is dangerous and costly.
What is the difference between seamless and ERW boiler tubes?
Seamless boiler tubes have no seam and suit the highest pressure and temperature. ERW boiler tubes have one heat-treated weld and suit economisers, boiler banks, and fire tubes.
What is the difference between ASTM A192 and A210 boiler tubes?
ASTM A192 is a low carbon grade for high-pressure boilers. ASTM A210 has more carbon and manganese, so it is stronger and suits boiler and superheater tubes with higher loads.
Which boiler tube grade suits superheaters?
Superheaters use alloy steel tubes such as ASTM A213 T11, T22, T91, and T92, or stainless steel TP304H, TP321H, and TP347H, depending on the steam temperature.
What sizes do your boiler tubes come in?
We supply boiler tubes from 3/4" to 6" OD, in walls from 2.0 mm to 10 mm. Other sizes are available on request.
What decides the price of boiler tubes?
Grade, size, wall thickness, process (seamless or ERW), heat treatment, quantity, and delivery port all shape the price. Send us your enquiry for a current quote.
Which certificate do I get with boiler tubes?
Every order ships with an EN 10204 3.1 certificate. We issue 3.2 with third-party inspection on request.
Are you a boiler tubes manufacturer or a supplier?
Both. We manufacture boiler tubes and also work as a boiler tubes supplier in India, with ready stock of popular sizes.
