What Are Stainless Steel Boiler Tubes?
Stainless steel boiler tubes are pressure-carrying tubes used inside boilers and related steam-generation equipment. They transfer heat from hot gases or combustion sources to water, producing steam for power generation, heating, and industrial processes. The tubes must handle high temperatures, internal pressure, thermal cycling, and exposure to water or steam without losing their strength.
Material selection depends on the boiler temperature, pressure, water chemistry, and operating conditions. Grades such as 304H, 316H, 321H, and 347H are used where elevated-temperature performance is important, while other stainless and duplex grades may suit specific corrosive environments.
Boiler tubes are produced to controlled dimensions and undergo processes such as heat treatment, sizing, straightening, cleaning, and testing. Depending on the applicable specification, inspections can include hydrostatic, eddy current, ultrasonic, or other tests. Reliable boiler tubes help maintain efficient heat transfer, pressure integrity, and long service life in demanding steam systems.
Stainless Steel Boiler Tubes
High-quality stainless steel boiler tubes manufactured for demanding high-temperature and pressure applications across power generation, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, marine, construction and engineering industries. Available in various sizes, grades, wall thicknesses and international standards.
Types of Stainless Steel Boiler Tubes
Boiler tubes differ according to where they are installed and the job they perform inside the boiler. Some carry water or steam, while others sit in the hottest sections and absorb heat from combustion gases. Choosing the right construction and grade depends on temperature, pressure, water chemistry, and boiler design.
- Water Wall Tubes: Form the furnace walls and absorb radiant heat from combustion. They help convert boiler water into steam.
- Superheater Tubes: Carry steam through high-temperature zones to raise its temperature before it reaches the turbine or process equipment.
- Reheater Tubes: Return steam to the boiler for additional heating after partial expansion, improving the overall steam-cycle efficiency.
- Economizer Tubes: Recover heat from exhaust gases and transfer it to incoming boiler feedwater, reducing fuel consumption.
- Steam Boiler Tubes: Designed for continuous exposure to pressurized water and steam in industrial steam-generation systems.
- High-Temperature Boiler Tubes: Use heat-resistant stainless steel grades for sections exposed to severe thermal conditions.
A Stainless Steel Boiler Tubes Manufacturer can supply different tube configurations, grades, wall thicknesses, and dimensions based on the boiler design and applicable specifications.
304H Boiler Tubes, 316H Boiler Tubes, 321H and 347H Boiler Tubes, Superheater Tubes, Reheater Tubes, Economiser Tubes, Stainless Steel Boiler Tubes Manufacturers and Suppliers in India
Power teams and boiler makers look for stainless steel boiler tubes manufacturers in India that can match a grade to a temperature and prove it on paper. We draw and test stainless tubes at our facility near Mumbai, keep common H grades in ready stock, and cut and bend to your drawing.
Start with the cooler sections. Our TP304H and TP316H tubes serve low-temperature superheaters and reheaters in coal, biomass, and waste-fuel boilers. Move up the temperature ladder, and our TP321H and TP347H tubes take the mid and hot sections, where stabilisation matters. For the hottest austenitic duty, we offer TP347HFG and Super 304H on request. At the cold end, TP316L and duplex tubes survive condensing economisers.
Buyers comparing stainless steel boiler tubes suppliers should check what arrives with the tube, not only the tube itself. Ours arrive cut to length, with square ends, a cleaned bore, bends where the drawing asks, capped ends, and a certificate that ties each tube to its heat. Price moves with nickel and molybdenum, grade, wall, length, and quantity, so we quote against your tube list.

What Is the Difference Between Stainless Steel Boiler Tubes and Carbon or Alloy Steel Boiler Tubes?
The difference shows up in temperature, oxidation, and cost. Carbon steel tubes cost the least and work well up to about 425°C. Chrome-moly alloy tubes such as T11, T22, T91, and T92 push the limit to roughly 600°C to 650°C at a medium price. Stainless steel tubes cost the most, but they resist oxidation and fireside attack, and they hold their strength in the hottest austenitic sections. Stainless steel also expands more when heated, which affects how you weld it to chrome-moly headers.
Pick carbon steel for water walls and economisers, chrome-moly for mid and high superheaters, and stainless steel for the final superheater, the reheater, and any corrosive fuel.

The austenitic grades above hold manganese at 2.00 max, silicon at 1.00 max, phosphorus at 0.045 max, and sulphur at 0.030 max. Super 304H holds Mn 1.00, Si 0.30, P 0.040, and S 0.010 max. Grade 2205 holds Mn 2.00, Si 1.00, P 0.030, and S 0.020 max. TP347HFG matches TP347H in chemistry and adds a fine-grain requirement.
Stainless Steel Boiler Tubes Mechanical Properties
Mechanical properties show how much load the tube carries before it stretches (yield) or breaks (tensile). Values are minimum unless marked max.
| Grade | Tensile ksi (MPa) | Yield ksi (MPa) | Elongation % | Hardness (max) | Grain Size |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| TP304H, TP316H, TP321H, TP347H | 75 (515) | 30 (205) | 35 | 90 HRB / 192 HBW | ASTM No. 7 or coarser |
| TP347HFG | 75 (515) | 30 (205) | 35 | 90 HRB / 192 HBW | ASTM No. 7 or finer |
| Super 304H | 86 (590) | 34 (235) | 35 | 95 HRB / 219 HBW | – |
| TP304L, TP316L | 70 (485) | 25 (170) | 35 | 90 HRB / 192 HBW | – |
| 2205 | 95 (655) | 65 (450) | 25 | 30.5 HRC / 290 HBW | – |
These are room-temperature minimums. A boiler designer works from the allowable stress at metal temperature in ASME Section II Part D, which falls as temperature rises, so the strength at 600°C is far lower than the figures above.

Common Materials
Boiler service puts different demands on different tube sections. Tubes near the furnace face intense heat, superheater sections handle high-temperature steam, and other areas deal more with feedwater and corrosion. Material selection therefore depends on where the tube will operate rather than choosing one stainless grade for the entire system.
304H (UNS S30409): Suitable for applications where the tube needs good oxidation resistance and strength during elevated-temperature operation.
316H (UNS S31609): Useful where heat is combined with corrosive water or chemical exposure, with molybdenum adding extra corrosion resistance.
321H (UNS S32109): Titanium-stabilized material suited to repeated heating and cooling and long periods at elevated temperatures.
347H (UNS S34709): Niobium-stabilized grade selected for high-temperature welded components where resistance to intergranular corrosion is important.
310S (UNS S31008): High chromium and nickel levels make it suitable for sections exposed to severe heat and oxidation.
Duplex 2205 (UNS S32205): Offers high strength and corrosion resistance where the boiler system also faces chloride-containing conditions.
Experienced stainless steel boiler tubes suppliers can help match the material to the boiler section, operating temperature, pressure, water chemistry, and applicable specification instead of treating every application the same.
Available Sizes, Dimensions and Tolerances
We supply stainless steel boiler tubes from 3/4" to 4" OD, in walls from 2.0 mm to 8.0 mm, and larger sizes on request. Boiler tubes do not use schedule numbers. You state the outside diameter and the wall, and the standard sets how far each can vary. Say whether your design works from the minimum wall or the average wall, because boiler makers calculate pressure from the minimum, and ASTM A213 defines the two differently.
Bends need extra thought in stainless steel. The outer side of a bend thins and the metal work hardens, so tell us your bend radius and the minimum wall you need after bending, and we will confirm the wall to order. Standard lengths are 6 m, 9 m, and 12 m, plus exact cut lengths. We hold the common H grades in stock, subject to availability.
| Product | Outside Diameter | Wall | Length | Condition |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ASTM A213 TP304H / TP316H Tubes | 3/4" to 4" | 2.0 mm to 8.0 mm | 6 m / 9 m / 12 m / exact cut | Solution annealed, pickled |
| ASTM A213 TP321H / TP347H Tubes | 3/4" to 4" | 2.0 mm to 8.0 mm | 6 m / 9 m / 12 m / exact cut | Solution annealed, pickled |
| ASTM A213 TP347HFG and Super 304H Tubes | 1" to 3-1/2" | 3.2 mm to 8.0 mm | On request | Fine-grain or precipitation-strengthened condition |

Stainless Steel Boiler Tubes FAQs
Common questions about stainless steel boiler tube grades, heat treatment, dimensions, testing, and supply.
Which grade should I choose for a final superheater tube?
Start with TP347H or TP347HFG for the hottest austenitic sections, and move to Super 304H when the design calls for the highest creep strength. Your boiler designer sets the final choice from the metal temperature and the code.
How do I choose between TP321H and TP347H?
Both are stabilised against sensitisation. TP347H holds more strength at heat, and TP321H costs a little less and suits refinery heaters and HRSG sections. The metal temperature and the fuel usually decide.
Why do boiler tubes use H grades?
The H grades hold carbon at 0.04% to 0.10% and a coarse grain. Together, those two features slow creep at high temperature, which the plain grades cannot match.
Do stainless steel boiler tubes need solution annealing?
Yes. The anneal dissolves carbides, sets the grain, and restores corrosion resistance. The H grades need a higher annealing temperature than the standard grades to keep the grain coarse.
How do these tubes handle steam-side oxidation?
Chromium builds a tight oxide layer that grows slowly. Fine-grain TP347HFG builds an even better layer, which reduces the risk of oxide flaking off and blocking downstream tubes.
Can I weld stainless steel boiler tubes to chrome-moly headers?
Yes, with a dissimilar-metal welding procedure that accounts for stainless steel's higher thermal expansion. Your boiler maker's weld procedure governs the details, and we supply tubes in the condition it specifies.
Why do refinery heaters prefer stabilised grades?
Sulphur compounds form polythionic acid during shutdowns, and that acid cracks sensitised stainless steel. Titanium in TP321H and niobium in TP347H prevent sensitisation, so these grades survive.
Can stainless steel tubes solve acid problems in a condensing economiser?
They can. TP316L and duplex 2205 resist the acid condensate that eats carbon steel, as long as the design keeps chloride levels and temperature inside the grade's limits.
Do stainless steel boiler tubes need IBR approval in India?
Boilers under the Indian Boiler Regulations need IBR-approved material. Tell us this at enquiry stage, and we will confirm the certification route before we quote.
What sizes do your stainless steel boiler tubes come in?
We supply tubes from 3/4" to 4" OD in walls from 2.0 mm to 8.0 mm, with larger sizes on request.
What shapes the price of stainless steel boiler tubes?
Nickel and molybdenum prices lead, followed by grade, wall thickness, length, bending, grain requirement, quantity, and delivery port. Share your list, and we quote against it.
Which certificate comes with the tubes?
Each lot carries an EN 10204 3.1 mill certificate. A 3.2 certificate is available when an independent inspector co-signs.
Are you a stainless steel boiler tubes manufacturer or a supplier?
We are both. We draw the tubes and also work as a stainless steel boiler tubes supplier in India, with ready stock of common H grades.
Do you ship stainless steel boiler tubes overseas?
Yes, to 85+ countries, with export packing and documents included.
