Nickel Alloy Incoloy 800H Pipes and Tubes Standards

ASTM B407 / ASME SB407 covers seamless pipe and tube in UNS N08810. It is a seamless standard, so welded product follows ASTM B514 / ASME SB514 for pipe and ASTM B515 / ASME SB515 for tube. Seamless heat exchanger and condenser tube follows ASTM B163 / ASME SB163.

General requirements come from ASTM B829, B775 and B751. Pipe dimensions follow ASME B36.19M. Matching parts follow ASTM B564 for flanges, B366 for fittings, B409 for plate and B408 for bar.

Each lot passes a hydrostatic test or eddy current testing, plus flattening and flaring tests on tube. Because grain size is part of what makes 800H what it is, we test it and report it. Positive material identification confirms nickel and chromium on the finished length, and third-party inspection is welcome at our works.

Nickel Alloy Incoloy 800H Pipes and Tubes vs 347H and 310H: Choosing a High-Temperature Alloy

When a line runs hot, buyers weigh 800H against two stainless steels that carry "H" too.

Point Incoloy 800H 347H Stainless 310H Stainless
Nickel30 – 35%9 – 13%19 – 22%
Approx. Code Upper LimitAbout 900 °CAbout 815 °CAbout 815 °C
Carburization ResistanceGoodLowModerate
Chloride Stress Corrosion CrackingGoodPoorModerate
Relative CostHighLowMedium

Code limits vary by edition; confirm against the code for your project.

Choose 347H when the line is moderately hot, chlorides are absent and budget is tight. Choose 310H for hot, oxidizing air with light loads. Choose 800H when the line runs near or above about 600 °C under pressure, sees carburizing gas, or may meet chlorides.

Creep Strength, Heat Resistance and Corrosion Performance of Nickel Alloy Incoloy 800H Pipes and Tubes

The main job of 800H is carrying load at heat. Design codes list higher allowable stress for the H grades above about 600 °C, and plain Alloy 800 is generally limited to about 590 °C for pressure parts. With 800H, a pressure design can reach roughly 900 °C under the code, and oxidation resistance is good up to about 1100 °C where loads are light.

It also resists carburization and nitriding, which attack ordinary stainless steel in hot process gas, and it stands up to chloride stress corrosion cracking much better than 304 or 316. Resistance is not immunity, though.

Know its limits. Long exposure between about 650 and 870 °C can form carbides and sigma phase, which reduce ductility at room temperature, so plan carefully when equipment is cooled and handled after long service. Reducing sulfur atmospheres attack all nickel-iron-chromium alloys. For strong sulfuric or phosphoric acid, Incoloy 825 is a better fit.

Room-temperature strength looks modest because the coarse grain that makes 800H creep resistant also lowers yield strength. Design from the code stress values at your operating temperature, not from these figures.

Nickel Alloy Incoloy 800H Pipes and Tubes Size and Weight Chart

Weight per metre = (OD − wall) × wall × 0.0249, with OD and wall in mm. This uses a density of 7.94 g/cm³. Treat the numbers as estimates, since wall tolerance moves the real weight.

Weight (kg/m) = (OD − Wall) × Wall × 0.0249

OD and wall are in mm. Multiply the result by the pipe or tube length to obtain the total weight.

Nickel Alloy Incoloy 800H Pipes and Tubes Sizes, Dimensions and Schedules

Pipe is supplied from ½" to 24" NB, from light Sch 5S and 10S up to Sch 160 and XXS. Heavy-wall pipe suits outlet headers and high-pressure manifolds. Tube is made to the exact OD and wall you specify, which is normal for reformer, boiler and exchanger work.

Pipes come in single random, double random or cut lengths, with plain, beveled or threaded ends. Annealed and pickled is the standard finish, and bright annealed finish is available on tube. Non-standard OD and wall combinations can be made to your drawing.

Nickel Alloy Incoloy 800H Pipes and Tubes Common Materials

Nickel Alloy Incoloy 800H Pipes and Tubes are available under different material names and grade designations used in industrial drawings, purchase orders, and technical specifications. A Nickel Alloy Incoloy 800H Pipes and Tubes Supplier helps buyers identify the correct grade using common names such as Incoloy 800H, Alloy 800H, and Nickel Alloy 800H. The standard UNS designation is N08810, while the EN Werkstoff number is 1.4958 and the JIS designation is NCF 800H. Related grades include Incoloy 800 (N08800) and Incoloy 800HT (N08811).

Material identification also depends on the product form and applicable standards. ASTM B564 covers forgings used for products such as flanges, ASTM B409 applies to plate, and ASTM B408 applies to bar products. Checking the grade, product form, and relevant specifications helps buyers match Nickel Alloy Incoloy 800H Pipes and Tubes to their project requirements and avoid material selection errors.
