What Are Monel K500 Pipes & Tubes?
Monel K500 pipes and tubes are hollow products made from UNS N05500 (EN 2.4375, NiCu30Al3Ti), a nickel-copper alloy that hardens by heat treatment instead of by cold work alone. Pipes are sized by nominal pipe size (NPS) and schedule, and tubes by exact OD and wall.
Two small additions make the difference. Aluminium (about 2.3% to 3.2%) and titanium (about 0.4% to 0.9%) form very fine particles inside the metal when it is aged, and those particles lock the structure and raise strength sharply. The base alloy of about 65% nickel and 30% copper keeps the corrosion resistance of Monel 400 in seawater, brine, hydrofluoric acid and alkalis.
The product is made in two stages. First it is supplied soft (annealed) so that it can be formed, bent and welded. Then it is age-hardened, typically by holding near 595 °C for about 16 hours and cooling slowly to about 480 °C, to reach full strength. The alloy is non-magnetic at room temperature and stays tough at low temperatures.

What Is the Difference Between Monel K500 Pipes and Tubes and Monel 400 Pipes and Tubes?
The short answer: Monel K-500 can be age-hardened and Monel 400 cannot. That gives K-500 about three times the yield strength and much higher hardness, with the same resistance to seawater. Use Monel 400 for general corrosion service, and K-500 where the pipe or tube also has to carry high stress.

Monel K500 pipes follow ASME B36.19M for Sch 10S, 40S and 80S, and ASME B36.10M for Sch 160. Tubes are ordered by OD and wall in mm or BWG.
